3D printing brain scans

The society was approached with the opportunity to 3D print brain scans. The following process was used to convert the raw brain scan file into an stl file suitable for 3D printing:

Meshmixer was then used to increase the mesh density, improving the surface quality. Due to the complex shapes and folds, supports were needed so the Bambu Labs printer was used with the special "Support for PLA" filament at the interface between the supports and model, to make it easier to remove. This is possible due to the multi-material capabilities of the Bambu Labs printer. A 50% scale test was done first, and is shown below before printing the final result over the weekend (it took approximately 27 hours due to the complexity and material changes).
